Since 2005, we’ve been working toward a goal of operating with 100% renewable energy
Be powered by 50 percent renewable energy by 2025
Drive the production or procurement of 7 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy globally by Dec. 31, 2020—an increase of more than 600 percent versus our 2010 baseline.
Double the number of on-site solar energy projects at our U.S. stores, Sam’s Club locations and distribution centers by 2020, compared with our 2013 baseline. That’s more than 480 sites by 2020.
By end of 2020, reduce kWh per square foot energy intensity of Walmart facilities by 20% vs 2010 baseline (reached 10% by end of FY 2016).
Moving ahead, we will continue to look for innovative ways to improve our fleet efficiency as we fold our fleet goals into our broader goal of using 100 percent renewable energy.
Manufacturing / Operational Waste
Create zero waste across our global operations
Achieve more than 90 percent of waste diversion from landfill and incineration in our own operations in Canada, Japan, the U.K., and the U.S., according with Zero Waste International Alliance guidelines by 2025.
Continue working to divert waste in all markets, moving as fast as infrastructure and best practices allow.
