Prior to joining Coca-Cola, Nicole created and ran an environmental division for six years at Design & Source Productions, a boutique product and packaging design firm in New York City.  Nicole graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Design in Architecture. While living in New York City, she was active on the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the NY Coalition for Resource Recovery, and a staff member of GreenHomeNYC, she also served on the Board and was President of the University of Florida Alumni Association for New York City.  She currently serves as Board Chair of SERDC (Southeast Recycling Development Council).

Why do you want to serve on the SPC Executive Committee?

Sustainable packaging is and has been a passion of mine throughout my career, at the start of my career, transitioning from the building space to packaging/products, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition was just beginning, and it was an exciting time to be a part of SPC and help to craft sustainable packaging guidance (that initial engagement was 2005-2010; committee work 2008-2010). Along my journey with Design & Source, I had the opportunity to create and co-teach a Sustainable Packaging Design course at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and even had some of our work featured in Scott Boylston’s book Designing Sustainable Packaging. While my initial work at Coca-Cola was focused more on our operational efforts, I was managing the recycling program for 80 facilities, and recognize the challenges of ensuring packaging materials are clean and of value as commodities to ensure they have markets to be reutilized in. Now that I’m leading our sustainable packaging and recycling work for Coca-Cola North America, it would be an honor to be part of the executive committee, helping to drive broader industry engagement with SPC and adoption of initiatives like How2Recycle Label.
