Bio
Justin is the CEO of Puro Bioplastics whose mission is to introduce carbon negative, biorenewable, biowaste materials to the market to assist manufacturers and brands in reducing their reliance on fossil-fuel resins while also reducing the carbon footprint in their products’ packaging. Justin is a serial entrepreneur. His interest in the field of sustainability began when he worked alongside the founder of Green Matters, a digital site dedicated to news stories in the sustainability space. Prior to starting Puro Bioplastics, Justin was a business development executive at Rocean, a water machine startup, that was focused on eliminating the need to use plastic and other containers for the transportation of water. Justin’s efforts led Rocean to an exit to Pentair in late 2020. He started Puro Bioplastics shortly thereafter. Most recently, Puro Bioplastics was one of 11 companies chosen out of over 500 applicants to be a part of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste’s accelerator program run by Plug and Play.
Why do you want to serve on the Executive Committee?
As the co-founder and CEO of Puro Bioplastics, our mission is to bring packaging material solutions that reduce the reliance on fossil fuel-based resins while reducing the carbon footprint in packaging products. I want to serve on the executive committee to help effectuate the proliferation of sustainable materials and provide a voice to assist other companies with similar solutions in the space.
What do you think you would contribute as an Executive Committee representative?
Having previously served on the Plastic Associations’ Bioplastics Executive Board, I have extensive purview into the federal and state regulations and policies affecting the industry and how best to assist SPC’s community in navigating the challenges and opportunities they present. In addition, having worked extensively with brands over my career, I can provide the Executive Committee insights from both the customer and supplier perspectives on how best to position sustainable solutions to the coalition’s community.
