
David Luttenberger
Mintel Group
David Luttenberger is a 30-year veteran of the packaging industry. He is currently the Global Packaging Director at Mintel Group, Ltd., the leading market intelligence firm serving the global CPG and packaging converter markets. In this role David leads a team of seasoned packaging analysts and helps guide the global packaging-related research and analysis efforts, and new packaging development business efforts at Mintel. He has primary responsibility for CPG and package converter insights and client facing projects in North, Latin, and South America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
His “solutions vs. disruptions” perspectives and insights on consumer trends, packaging innovations, responsible packaging, smart/active packaging, e-commerce packaging, and mobile marketing for packaging, and the general business of packaging across multiple formats and end-use categories have been featured in keynote presentations around the world. He presents to and advises retailers, brand-owners, and packaging converters around the world on a daily basis. His work at Mintel includes advising clients on the motivators and drivers of consumer purchasing decisions, and how myriad aspect of packaging play into those decisions.
David is the former VP/Packaging Strategist at CEB Iconoculture, and the former Director of the competitive intelligence firm, Packaging Strategies.
David has recently completed Amazon’s APASS e-commerce certification program. He has earned Lifetime Certified Packaging Professional status, and has been recognized by the former Packaging & Technology Integrated Solutions (PTIS) as a Top Packaging Thought Leader. In 2015, Luttenberger was presented with a DuPont Award for Package Innovation. In 2016, he was named by Packaging Digest magazine as one of the global packaging industry’s Top Social Media Influencers. He has been interview and quoted by NPR, CNN Business, The Wall Street Journal, and other major publications. He has been called upon to provide expert witness testimony related to proprietary packaging technologies, copyrights, and other legal issues pertaining to consumer packaging, design, and marketing.
David is a retired 23-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He served in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1983, where he earned the Combat Action Ribbon, while serving with the U.S. contingent of the Multi-national Peacekeeping Force.
