Education and Outreach

As part of the SPC's education and outreach, it holds several in-person and online meetings and educational events a year. The SPC believes it will require collaboration throughout the supply chain to affect the change needed to realize sustainable packaging. As a result, the SPC continually looks for opportunities to advance its mission through participation in and hosting of conferences and meetings.

COMPASS is a leading software application originally developed by GreenBlue’s Sustainable Packaging Coalition to help companies analyze the environmental profile of a packaging system. Multiple Primary, Secondary, and Transport packages can be compared to each other using the definition of sustainable packaging established by the SPC.

Trayak is pleased to announce that the GHG calculations have been updated to conform to the latest IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) factors. Chinese and Mexican data sets now also available for use.

Prashant Jagtap

Prashant Jagtap is the President & CEO of Trayak.  He founded Trayak with the vision to bring sustainability mainstream. Trayak’s mission is to provide easy-to-use software decision tools that enable design & manufacturing of sustainable products and packaging.

He has over 25 years of experience helping leading brands and manufacturers from different industries improve their product and package development and launch processes using software solutions.  

Prashant holds a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering from UMASS at Amherst, MA and an MBA from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH.

Trayak’s suite of sustainability solutions include COMPASS, EcoImpact, EcoDesigner, EcoScore, EcoLabel and MyGizmo.  Trayak also offers consulting & expert services to help you succeed in your sustainability journey. 

James Ewell


As a member of the original team that founded GreenBlue, James re-joined the organization as Director of the GreenBlue Chemicals program in September 2011. During his initial time at GreenBlue, James helped establish the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and also co-created the Sustainable Textile Metrics that evolved into the NSF/ANSI 336 Standard for the Assessment of Sustainable Commercial Furnishing Fabrics. In his current role, James oversees the expansion of the GreenBlue Chemicals program by spearheading the development of tools and resources that compliment and leverage the CleanGredients platform and that are necessary for industry to identity and promote safer chemicals in the design and manufacturing of products.
