Education and Outreach

As part of the SPC's education and outreach, it holds several in-person and online meetings and educational events a year. The SPC believes it will require collaboration throughout the supply chain to affect the change needed to realize sustainable packaging. As a result, the SPC continually looks for opportunities to advance its mission through participation in and hosting of conferences and meetings.

Meeting Information

In reaction to last year’s enthusiastic response to the breakout format and the expressed desire to have more time to discuss and share experiences with each other, we have decided to try a breakout-intensive format for this year’s meeting. We believe this fits nicely with the feedback you provided in the member survey and at the Spring Meeting that you all are interested in being more engaged in SPC projects and want them to address a greater diversity of topics.

This will include sessions on each of the member-led SPC Working Groups, as well as breakouts on several ongoing SPC projects. We believe this is a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn from your peers firsthand, so please come prepared to share your thoughts and experiences with your fellow members. Please note that the Fall Meeting is dedicated to getting our members involved in our projects and up-to-date on the business of the SPC and therefore does not include external speakers.

Member-led SPC Working Group Session Topics:

- Transport Packaging

- Energy Recovery

- End-of-Life Funding Systems for Packaging

- Composting

- Consumer Education and Outreach

- WBCSD Vision 2050 for Packaging Materials

GreenBlue-led SPC project sessions include:

- Updates and discussion on the Design for Recycling Guidelines

- It’s here! The recovery label is done and launching.

- COMPASS and the latest news on the state of LCI data for packaging materials

- Learn what the Material Health R&D group has been up to

- The latest thinking and discussion on collectively reporting SPC members’ activities related to the SPC Definition of Sustainable Packaging

- Best practices and useful models for benchmarking performance within the supply chain

Reception at Frito-Lay Headquarters

We are happy and thankful to announce that this year's SPC Fall Members-Only Meeting reception is being hosted by PepsiCo at the Frito-Lay Headquarters in Plano, TX.
