Education and Outreach

As part of the SPC's education and outreach, it holds several in-person and online meetings and educational events a year. The SPC believes it will require collaboration throughout the supply chain to affect the change needed to realize sustainable packaging. As a result, the SPC continually looks for opportunities to advance its mission through participation in and hosting of conferences and meetings.

SPC May Open Forum - Closing the Loop on Beverage Cartons

Gable top cartons have been used for containing milk, juice and other products in the U.S. since the early 1900’s, and aseptic cartons since the early 1980’s;  however both carton types have had limited recyclability in the U.S. – until now.  In April 2009 four of the leading carton manufacturers joined forces through creation of the Carton Council to expand the carton recycling infrastructure across the country.  Best practices from this initiative, and lessons learned as the infrastructure development progresses toward self sustainability via economies of scale, will be shared during this Forum.

SPC primary and secondary contacts from member companies are emailed the call-in information two weeks before the call. If you are part of a member company and would like to attend the call but did not receive the information, please contact us and we will send it to you.

SPC members should visit our Open Forum page to learn more about our monthly Open Forum calls and to access past archives.
