Environmental Technical Briefs of Common Packaging Materials provide information on the environmental impacts of the production and use of commonly used packaging materials. The documents describe the main manufacturing processes, and identify primary inputs in the manufacture phase of material life cycle. The briefs also document the environmental impacts of the inputs, in terms of cradle to gate emissions or outputs. Key sets of data include energy intensity, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water consumption, emissions to air and water, and solid waste. In addition, each brief reviews the material using the lens of sustainability, and evaluates the potential end-of-life fates for each material.
